Description: Bracken Ridge Hall is a versatile brick hall, located next to the Bracken Ridge Library at 77 Bracken Street, Bracken Ridge.
This venue is accessible by public transport, bus stop “Bracken Street at Bracken Ridge Library” is to the front left of the hall if you are facing the building, about 50 metres away from the hall entry. A concrete footpath leads up to the main entrance of the hall. The hall has on-site parking as well as limited street parking. One accessible parking space is located within a short distance from the main entry.
All doors both internal and external are manual doors and are a minimum of 0.8m wide. Inside, all areas have vinyl flooring, apart from the meeting room which is carpeted. The main hall and meeting room are air-conditioned, and the main hall has ceiling fans. The main hall includes an infrared hearing loop system. Entry to the main hall is through glass aluminium double-leaf doors, which faces the main car park and the library building. A swipe card is required for access using the black card reader to the right of this door. To the left of the front entrance is an external grey door to a shared unisex accessible toilet with a left-hand transfer.
Directly through the main entrance is the main hall, which accommodates up to 136 people with tables and chairs provided. To the right, along the entire back wall is a stage which features a piano and audio-visual system with projector and speakers. The audio-visual controls are in the backstage area to the right of the stage. The backstage room and the stage are accessible by stairs on the far right of the stage, and a wheelchair lift on the far left of the stage.
Along the wall opposite the main entry, in the far-left corner are double-leaf wooden doors that open into the table and chair storage area. The tables fold and have wheels to make them easier to move and store. Left of the main entry and at the opposite end from the stage is a kitchen serving counter and a set of double-leaf glass and aluminium doors in the far-right corner. These doors open to a corridor, immediately to the left, is a grey door that leads into the main hall kitchen.
This kitchen includes a cooktop and oven which is for reheating food only. There is a fridge with freezer, benchtop microwave, sink, wall mounted instant boiling water unit and a boiling and chilled water tap. The sink and some benches are not wheelchair accessible.
Exiting the kitchen, the next door on the left is a grey door with a narrow glass panel that opens into the meeting room. A swipe card is required for access, using the black card reader to the right of this door. This room accommodates up to 12 people. Chairs and tables are usually stored in the right-hand corner of the room. There are two large windows on the right-hand wall with blinds that are operated by a pulley system. On the far wall opposite the entry are small windows, at above head height. A kitchenette runs along the right-hand wall and features a boiling and chilled water tap, bar fridge, microwave, and sink. The sink and benches are not wheelchair accessible.
Exiting the meeting room, to the left is a glass and aluminium door that leads to the rear hall carpark. To enter this door from the carpark a swipe card is required for access using the black card reader to the right of this door. On the other side of the corridor, opposite the main kitchen and meeting room are male and female toilets accessed by grey doors. Both male and female toilets each have an ambulant toilet with assistance rails on each side of the toilet. Both toilets feature braille signage adjacent to the door. A locked cleaners storeroom separates the two toilet entries and there is a timber bench along the wall near the male toilet entry.
