Description: Forest Lake Community Hall is a modern, two level facility located at 60 College Avenue, Forest Lake.

This venue is accessible by public transport, bus stop ‘Hillbrook on College Avenue’ is 140m down the footpath to the left of the hall if you are facing the building from the entry driveway. The facility has on-site parking as well as limited street parking. Two accessible parking spaces are located at the front of the hall within a short distance of the main entry.

Externally to the left of the hall is a large greenspace with a sloping gradient that runs the length of the hall which is accessible from the carpark and from the covered courtyard that connects to the rear entrance of the hall. At this venue all doors both internal and external are manual doors and are a minimum of 0.9m wide. Inside, all areas have vinyl flooring, except for the foyer and toilets which are tiled. The main hall and meeting room are air-conditioned and include induction hearing loop systems.

Entry to the venue is through an orange metal door on the ground level to the left-hand side of the building. A swipe card is required for access using a black card reader to the right of the door. After passing through this door you enter a corridor approximately 10 metres long which leads to a glass and aluminium door. A swipe card is required for access using a black card reader that is on the corridor wall approximately one metre back and to the left of the door.

Directly through the second entry door is a shared foyer. As you enter, to the left is an L shaped staircase with handrails on both sides and tactile ground surface indicators located at the bottom and top of the stairs. To the right after entering the shared foyer is a path to access the lift, which is around a corner to the left. The call button is to the left of the lift door. Both the stairs and lift connect the ground level to the upper level corridor that provides access to all venue spaces and amenities.

The main hall is accessed through large grey double doors to the right of the lift and staircase with a swipe card required for access, using the black card reader to the right of the doors. This space accommodates up to 120 people, with tables and chairs provided. As you stand at the entry door, on the wall directly to your left is a servery window. On the back wall are two sets of double glass doors that lead to a covered balcony and along the left and right walls are a total of nine windows. The audio-visual controls are in the corner directly to your right. This system includes a projector and speakers. The hall also features a piano.

The main kitchen is directly opposite the stairs and lift and is accessed through a grey door that requires a swipe card for access, using a black card reader to the right of the door. This kitchen includes a cooktop and oven which is for reheating food only. Also included is a fridge with freezer, benchtop microwave, double sink, wall mounted instant boiling water unit and a boiling and chilled water tap. The kitchen also features a servery window with a pull-down roller shutter which connects to the main hall. The sink and benches are not wheelchair accessible.

Approximately halfway down the corridor to the right as you exit the main kitchen are the toilets, which are accessed through a grey door on the right of the corridor. As you enter the amenities there are the male toilets to the left, directly in front are the female toilets and to the right is a unisex accessible toilet with a left-hand transfer. Both male and female toilets each have an ambulant toilet with assistance rails on each side of the toilet. All toilets feature braille signage adjacent to each door.

Further down the corridor on your right is the storeroom where the tables and chairs are stored. This room is accessed with a swipe card using the black card reader to the left of the door. The tables fold and have wheels to make them easier to move and store.

Directly opposite the storeroom is a glass door that provides access to a covered courtyard, this is also the rear entrance to the hall. A swipe card is required to access the courtyard area using the black card reader to the right of the door. Through the external door and following the path to the left is an undercover concrete courtyard with knee-height bench seating along the balustrading. From the external door and following the path to the right there is a footpath and raised garden beds that leads to the greenspace that runs along the left side of the venue.

Returning to the corridor, at the end is a meeting room, a swipe card is required for access using the black card reader to the right of the door. This room accommodates up to 16 people. Tables and chairs are usually set up in a large square formation in the middle of the room.

Opposite the entry door there are three windows and along the right back wall there is a kitchenette with a bar fridge, benchtop microwave and sink with a boiling and chilled water tap. The sink and benchtops are not wheelchair accessible. The room features a projector and speakers, with the audio-visual controls located on the wall above the kitchenette benchtop in the left-hand corner.
