Northgate Hall is a heritage listed hall, located at the corner of Scott and Ridge Streets, Northgate.
This venue is accessible by public transport, bus stop “Scott Street – 18” is to the front right of the hall if you are facing the building.
Directional tactile ground surface indicators will lead you to the footpath.
With only street parking available, there is no accessible parking on site.
There is an independently accessible ramp to the front right of the hall that starts at the footpath about 1 metre left of the bus stop.
The ramp leads to the main entrance.
The hall can also be accessed by the stairs directly at the front of the hall.
The hall is accessed through an orange door with a large glass panel and a swipe card is required for access, using the black card reader located to the right of this door.
Externally to the right of the hall is a greenspace area that can be utilised for outdoor activities.
A concrete pathway with a sloping gradient runs externally along the length of the hall.
Along the path, there are two separate sets of stairs that connect to the hall, and the path then travels under the building to connect to female and then around a corner, male toilets.
These toilets are not suitable for wheelchair users.
In this venue every entrance both externally and internally are manual doors, all doors are a minimum of 0.8m wide.
Inside, all areas have vinyl flooring, apart from the meeting room which has carpet.
Handrails are also provided on each set of stairs and the entrance ramp.
Directly through the main entrance is a shared foyer.
Stored in this area are the tables and chairs for the main hall,
the tables fold and have wheels to make them easier to move and store.
The main hall is accessed through a black door with a small glass panel opposite the main entry and a swipe card is required for access, using the black card reader located to the right of this door.
At full capacity this hall accommodates up to 188 guests, 105 chairs and 30 tables.
This hall features a stage, piano, audio visual system which includes projector and speakers.
Audio visual controls are located in the backstage room to the right of the stage.
The main hall includes an induction hearing loop system.
The backstage room and the stage are accessible via stairs only, located on both the left and right of the stage.
There are dark coloured, knee height fixed benches that run along the left and right walls of the hall, except where there are doors and access ways.
The hall is fully air conditioned and features ceiling fans.
The room also has seven windows with blinds that are operated with a pully system.
Three quarters down the right side of the main hall is a glass and silver aluminium door that provides access to a shared area.
This is an enclosed break out area that connects the main hall to other facilities.
As you enter the shared area from the main hall, there is the main kitchen to the left, external staircase on the opposing wall, and to the right are the toilets and alternate access to the hallway kitchenette and meeting room.
Access to the main kitchen is to the left as you enter the shared area from the main hall.
This main kitchen includes a cooktop and oven which is for reheating food only.
There is a full-sized fridge with freezer, benchtop microwave, sink, wall mounted hot water Zip and a hot water urn.
There is no dishwasher located at this facility.
The sink and benches are not wheelchair accessible.
To the right of the shared area, as you enter this space from the main hall is a unisex accessible toilet with a left-hand transfer.
Also, to the immediate right there is a hallway that leads to two unisex ambulant toilets that are located on left side of the hallway.
All toilets on the upper level feature braille signage adjacent to each door.
After the toilets, there is a glass and sliver aluminium door.
A swipe card is required for access, using the black card reader located to the left of this door.
Through this door there is a kitchenette that connects to the meeting room.
The kitchenette has a set of external stairs.
The main entrance to the meeting room is accessed through the entry foyer, the entrance to the meeting room is to the right of the foyer when entering the facility.
The doors are large white double doors with vertical glass panels.
A swipe card is required for access, using the black card reader located to the left of this door.
This room can accommodate up to 17 guests, 17 chairs and 4 tables.
Chairs and tables are usually stacked in the corners.
The room also has three windows with blinds that are operated with a pully system.
This room features a projector and speakers and is fully air conditioned.
On the left wall of this room there is a door which provides direct access to an adjoining kitchenette, which is for the exclusive use of the meeting room.
This kitchenette features a hot and cold-water Zip tap, fridge, microwave, and sink.
The sink and benches are not wheelchair accessible.
